RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 19) – Saint Augustine's University ventures to Brayboy Gymnasium to take on Johnson C. Smith University in a CIAA basketball doubleheader in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday, Jan. 20. The women's contest begins at 2 p.m. followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.

The Falcons visit the Golden Bulls in a pivotal men's contest. Both teams won their Southern Division opener and are tied with Shaw University at 1-0 in the division.
The Falcons, playing their sixth straight road game, have adapted to life away from Emery Gymnasium. They have won three consecutive contests and seven of their last eight matchups. Fourteen of their 18 games have been in opposing gymnasium and arenas.
Tyre Gathright (Jr./Wilmington, NC) was named CIAA Newcomer of the Week after scoring a game-high 19 points in a 74-65 win over Winston-Salem State University last Saturday. He ranks fifth in the CIAA in points per game (17.1).
Quincy January (Sr./Atlanta, GA) leads the CIAA in rebounds per game (11.8) and field goal percentage (65.2) in addition to averaging 14.3 points per game. He ranks third among active Division II players in career rebounds (952) and double-doubles (46), needing only 63 points and 48 rebounds to reach the 1,500-point, 1,000-rebound milestone.
Kasey Bryant (Sr./Raleigh, NC) ranks second in three-point field goal percentage (47.4) for the Falcons, who are equally adept on both ends of the court. The Falcons (9-9 overall) rank third in the CIAA in field goal percentage (46.1) including second in three-point field goal percentage (38.0). On defense, the Falcons have held opponents to under 40 percent shooting in eight straight games, earning them a No. 15 national ranking in field goal percentage defense (40.1) in Division II.
The Golden Bulls (9-7 overall) feature Robert Davis, who leads the CIAA in points per game (22.5). Cayse Minor ranks third in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (46.5) for the Golden Bulls, who rank fourth in the league in field goal percentage (44.7) and three-point field goal percentage (36.6). Last Saturday, the Golden Bulls defeated Fayetteville State University 67-57.
In the women's game, the Lady Falcons (0-1 Southern Division, 4-12 overall) are looking to bounce back against the Golden Bulls after falling against Winston-Salem State last Saturday. Kaaliya Williams (So./Richmond, VA), who ranks fourth in Division II in free throw percentage (93.8), averages a team-high 13.1 points. Quiera Gilmore (R-So./Charlotte, NC) averages 8.6 points and Angela Caraballo (So./Richmond, VA) averages 7.9 points.
The Golden Bulls (0-1 Southern Division, 10-6 overall) are also looking for their first division win after losing 76-67 to Fayetteville State last Saturday. Jasmine Carter leads the team in points per game (15.4) and Jakeyah McNeil is the CIAA leader in three-point field goal percentage (40.5).
Both teams get after their opponents on defense. The Lady Falcons are 13th (23.0) and the Golden Bulls are 18th nationally (22.4) in Division II in turnovers forced per game.
