SAU Men's Basketball Heads To Florida For Two Games On Thanksgiving Weekend (Nov. 23-24)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 21) – The Saint Augustine's University men's basketball team will play two games in two days in the state of Florida on Thanksgiving weekend.
 
The Falcons visit Lynn University in a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday, Nov. 23, in Boca Raton, Fla. After the contest against Lynn, they face Nova Southeastern University on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Falcons (2-2 overall) opened the season with two victories but lost their last two games including an 83-71 road loss to Claflin University in their CIAA opener on Monday, Nov. 19. Tyre Gathright (Sr./Wilmington, NC), who poured in 25 points against Claflin, leads the Falcons in scoring with a 20.3 average. Jquwan Ruffin (Jr./Ahoskie, NC) and Jalen Gaddy (Jr./Raleigh, NC) both average 11.5 points for the Falcons, who average 72 points as a unit.
 
Lynn and Nova Southeastern, who are members of the Sunshine State Conference, are both unbeaten heading into this weekend. Both squads are high-scoring teams.
 
Lynn is 2-0 overall after beating Florida National University 89-78 at home on Nov. 16. Michael Baez and Jamal Palmer scored 25 points and 20 points, respectively, for the Fighting Knights. Palmer averages 20 points and Baez averages 17.5 points for Lynn, which averages 81.5 points per contest.
 
Nova Southeastern is also 2-0 after downing Florida National University 133-106 at home on Nov. 17. Mark Matthews collected 27 points and 15 rebounds and David Dennis had 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Sharks, who average 117 points and allow 99 points per game. Six players average double figures led by Matthews, who averages 25 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game. Dennis averages 23.5 points and 10 rebounds.
 
After Thanksgiving weekend, the Falcons are off until Saturday, Dec. 1, when they host Morehouse College at Emery Gymnasium. The contest begins at 4 p.m.
