A victory would move the Falcons into a second-place tie with their crosstown rivals in the Southern Division. In the first meeting on Jan. 24, the Falcons fell to the Bears 54-48 at Emery Gymnasium in a defensive battle.

At stake is a first-round bye in the CIAA Tournament, which will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27, through Saturday, March 3, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C. The top two teams in the Northern and Southern Divisions will receive byes in the tournament.

Leading the Falcons (12-12 overall) are seniors Quincy January (Atlanta, GA), Kasey Bryant (Raleigh, NC) and Kenneth Collins (Clayton, NC) and junior Tyre Gathright (Wilmington, NC). January ranks among the top 10 nationally in Division II in rebounding (11 per game) and field goal percentage (64.9). He is 10 points away from achieving the 1,500-point, 1,000-rebound career milestone.

Bryant ranks second in the CIAA in three-point percentage (47.3) and Collins ranks sixth in the conference in three-pointers made (53). Gathright ranks sixth in the CIAA in scoring (16.4) for the Falcons, who lead the league in three-point percentage (38.2).

The Bears (17-8 overall) are paced by Savon Goodman, who ranks second in the CIAA in scoring (19.1), rebounding (9.8) and field goal percentage (58.3).
