RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 17) – Ismael Baldwin (Jr./Kinston, NC) scored a career-high 14 points for Saint Augustine's University, but a late Falcons' lead slipped away in a 55-52 CIAA men's basketball loss to Shaw University at Spaulding Gymnasium on Saturday.

The Falcons held a nine-point lead early in the second half but found themselves trailing 55-52 with 8.3 seconds left. They needed a three-pointer to force overtime but committed a turnover before time expired.

Quincy January (Sr./Atlanta, GA) added nine points and 12 rebounds and Rashad George (Fr./Raleigh, NC) chipped in eight points and five rebounds for the Falcons, who held the CIAA's highest scoring team to under 60 points twice in the season series. January only needs one point to reach the 1,500-point, 1,000-rebound career milestone.

After two Shaw free throws, George scored a layup to pull the Falcons within 53-52 with 1:05 on the clock. The Falcons had two chances to re-take the lead but missed a three-point attempt and committed a turnover. The Bears (18-8 overall) connected on two free throws for the final margin.

Stephens-Bell scored 21 points and Savon Goodman pulled down 12 rebounds for the Bears, who are second in the Southern Division at 6-2. The Bears outscored the Falcons 34-25 in the second half on 43.5 percent shooting.
