SAU Men's Basketball Hosts JCSU In Suits And Sneakers Game Wednesday (Jan. 23)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 22) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) hosts Johnson C. Smith University in a CIAA men's basketball game on Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week this Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Emery Gymnasium. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
 
Head Coach MarQus Johnson and his basketball coaching staff will wear tennis shoes on the SAU bench to raise cancer awareness. Suits and Sneakers Week, held Jan. 21-27, is a nationwide partnership between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

ADMISSION
$13 general admission on game day for the men's contest, which is part of a doubleheader. $8.50 for faculty/staff, senior citizens, military personnel, visiting students with valid ID and children ages 6-12. Free for SAU students with valid ID and children ages five and under (per one paying adult).

Saint Augustine's University nearly erased a 20-point deficit with a furious rally in the final four minutes of a 63-57 CIAA men's basketball defeat to Winston-Salem State University at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019. The Rams held what appeared to be a comfortable 58-38 lead with 4:32 remaining before the Falcons made their move. Tyre Gathright keyed a 15-0 run with 10 straight points including two free throws with 1:06 left to pull the Falcons within 58-53.
 
Johnson C. Smith University shot 70.4 percent in the second half to trounce Carson-Newman University 85-71 in a non-conference road game Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, in Jefferson City, Tenn. Roddric Ross scored a season-high 27 points and Cayse Minor scored a season-high 22 points for the Golden Bulls, who trailed 38-36 at halftime.
