RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 17) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) looks to enter the holiday break on a high note as the Falcons visit two CIAA Southern Division teams in men's basketball games this week.

The Falcons square off against Claflin University at Tullis Arena in Orangeburg, S.C, on Wednesday, Dec. 18, and Winston-Salem State University at the Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday, Dec. 21. Both games start at 4 p.m. and are both free to the public.

If you cannot make both contests, follow the Falcons via live video and live stats at

The Falcons (0-2 CIAA, 2-6 overall) look to establish themselves as Southern Division contenders, staring with Claflin on Wednesday. Jalen Gaddy (Sr./Raleigh, NC) leads the SAU offensive attack with a 14.8 scoring average followed by Gary Jefferson (Jr./Baltimore, MD) with a 12.1 average. Miguel Brown (Jr./Wilson, NC) averages 8.9 points and 6.3 rebounds.

The trio of Gaddy, Jefferson and Donte Edwards (So./Durham, NC) are among the top three-point shooters in the CIAA. All three are shooting 34 percent or better behind the three-point arc. As a team, the Falcons are making 35 percent of their three-pointers, good enough for fifth in the CIAA.

Claflin (1-0 Southern Division, 1-2 CIAA, 4-7 overall) is one of the better defensive teams in the CIAA, ranking third in three-point percentage defense (31.2). The Panthers are also third in the conference in points allowed (69.7). Russell Robinson is tied for sixth in the CIAA in blocked shots per game (1.4).

Offensively, Letrell West leads the Panthers in points per game (14.9). He is their top three-point shooter.

Winston-Salem State (0-1 Southern Division, 2-2 CIAA, 4-5 overall) also is strong defensively, ranking second in the CIAA in points allowed (66.9). Mason Harrell is tied for eighth in the league in rebounds per game (7.5) and tied for sixth in blocks per game (1.4). Julius Barnes is tied for sixth in steals per game (1.4).
