SAU Men's Basketball Hosts Fayetteville State Saturday On Senior Day (Feb. 23)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 22) – Saint Augustine's University concludes the regular season with a CIAA men's basketball game against Fayetteville State University at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 23. Game time is 6 p.m.
 
Five Falcons will be recognized on Senior Day. They are Ishmael Baldwin (Kinston, NC), Tyre Gathright (Wilmington, NC), D.J. Harrison (Winston-Salem, NC) Craig McDaniel (Holly Springs, NC) and Carnell Norfleet (Williamston, NC).
 
Both the Falcons and Broncos are trying to avoid the No. 7 Southern Division seed in next week's CIAA Tournament. They enter the contest tied for fifth with Johnson C. Smith University. The Falcons can finish the regular season as high as fourth in the division with a win.

$13 on game day for the men's and women's doubleheader. $8.50 for faculty/staff, senior citizens, military personnel, visiting students with valid ID and children ages 6-12. Free for SAU students with valid ID and children ages five and under (per one paying adult).

LAST MEETING
Tyre Gathright scored 19 points and Jalen Gaddy added 17 points for Saint Augustine's University, but a late lead slipped away from the Falcons in a 63-62 Southern Division loss to Fayetteville State at Capel Arena on Feb. 2, 2019. JaQuel Richmond canned a three-pointer with 5.7 seconds left to give the Broncos the win. The Falcons misfired at the right elbow on their next possession, and the Broncos rebounded as time expired. The Falcons held a 62-56 lead with 1:35 remaining on a bank shot by Hirk Williams (Jr./Manassas, VA). His basket capped a 6-0 run by the Falcons, which broke a 56-56 tie.
 
LAST GAME
- Tyre Gathright scored a career-high 40 points to lead Saint Augustine's University past Livingstone College 91-85 in Salisbury, N.C., on Wednesday, Feb. 20. The point total was a season high for the Falcons. Gathright's 40 points offset 38 points by Livingstone's Roger Ray. Jalen Gaddy scored 16 points and D.J. Harrison had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
