SAU Men's Basketball Looks To Stretch Win Streak Against Lincoln (Pa.) At Home Saturday (Jan. 11)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 10) – Saint Augustine's University will attempt to extend its two-game men's basketball winning streak against Lincoln (Pa.) University in a non-conference game between CIAA opponents at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 11. The contest starts at 4 p.m.

The Falcons have started the New Year with two impressive victories. They outraced regionally-ranked Glenville State College 103-82 on Jan. 3 and nipped CIAA contender Virginia Union University 79-78 on Jan. 6. The contest against Lincoln is the third of a four-game homestand.

In its last two games, SAU averaged 91 points and shot 58 percent from the floor, including 52 percent from three-point range. Leading scorer Gary Jefferson (Jr./Baltimore, MD) has been on a tear lately, averaging 24 points in his past two contests. Named CIAA Player of the Week on Monday, Jefferson is averaging nearly 15 points on 52 percent shooting for the season.

The Falcons (4-8 overall) have also gotten production from Miguel Brown (Jr./Wilson, NC), Donte Edwards (So./Durham, NC) and Jalen Gaddy (Sr./Raleigh, NC). In the previous two games, Brown and Edwards averaged 11.5 points and Gaddy averaged 10 points.

Lincoln (4-12 overall) is also surging, having won two of its first three games in 2020. The Lions are coming off an 82-66 victory over Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C., on Thursday, Jan. 9. Deaquan Williams tallied 16 points and a Lincoln school Division II record 21 rebounds in the win.

Williams averages 11.6 points and a CIAA-best 11.2 rebounds for the Lions, who averaged 82 points in their last three games. Zahrion Blue is the Lions' scoring leader with a 17.1 average.

Tickets are $13 for general admission and $8.50 for senior citizens, military personnel with valid ID, faculty, staff, visiting college students with ID and children ages 6-12 as part of a doubleheader. The contest is free for SAU students and children ages 5 and under per one paying adult.
