SAU Hosts Fayetteville State In Men's And Women's Basketball Doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 1 (SAU Goes Red For Heart Health Day)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 31) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) hosts Fayetteville State University in a CIAA men's and women's basketball doubleheader at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 1. The women's contest starts at 2 p.m. followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.

The doubleheader is designated as SAU Goes Red For Heart Health Day to promote American Heart Health Month. Red Out T-shirts will be on sale for $10 and heart health information will be available in the lobby. A halfcourt shootout for a prize is scheduled at halftime.

Tickets are $13 for general admission and $8.50 for the following with valid ID: visiting students, SAU faculty, SAU staff, senior citizens, military personnel and youth ages 6 to 12. Admission is free for SAU students with valid ID and youth ages five and under per one paying adult.

Kaaliya Williams (Sr./Richmond, VA is the top scorer for the Lady Falcons (3-7 CIAA, 8-12 overall) with a 12.2 average. The CIAA's leading free throw shooter (86.2), Williams needs 29 points to reach the 1,000-point career mark.


Kamya Renwicks (Sr./Baltimore, MD) and Quiera Gilmore (Sr./Charlotte, NC) average 9.8 points and 9.5 points, respectively. They are among the top 10 steals leaders in the CIAA. As a team, the Lady Falcons rank
12th nationally in three-point field goal defense (25.9 percent) and 13th nationally in turnovers forced (22.8).


Katisha Hyman averages a team-high 18 points for the Fayetteville State women (8-2 CIAA, 11-8 overall), the CIAA Southern Division leaders and last year's tournament runner-ups. She leads the CIAA in three-point field goal percentage (42.4). Shantel Bennett and Aminata Johnson average 11.2 points and 10.5 points, respectively, and Johnson is the CIAA blocks leader.


Gary Jefferson (Jr./Baltimore, MD) and Jalen Gaddy (Sr./Raleigh, NC) are the top scorers for the SAU men (3-7 CIAA, 8-12 overall), winners of three of their last four games. Jefferson averages 14.2 points and Gaddy averages 12.9 points. Donte Edwards (So./Durham, NC) averages 9 points.


Jalen Seegars paces the Broncos (5-5 CIAA, 16-5 overall) in scoring (16.1). Darian Dixon averages 10.3 points and Mark Burton averages 10 points. Will Brown is among the NCAA Division II leaders in blocks (47).
