The Falcons are looking to sweep the Bears for the first time in four years. The series is tied 5-5 in the last 10 games between the arch rivals.
In the first meeting on Jan. 25, the Falcons defeated the Bears 105-94 at home inside Emery Gymnasium. Nilous Hodge (So./Charlotte, NC) scored 20 points to lead six double-figure scorers for the Falcons, who canned a season-high 14 three-pointers on 29 attempts for 48.3 percent.
SAU (9-16 overall, 4-11 CIAA) has five players shooting 35 percent or better from three-point land this season, including Hirk Williams (Sr./Manassas, VA), who makes 42.9 percent of his threes. As a team, the Falcons rank fourth in the CIAA in three-point field goal percentage (37.0).
Gary Jefferson (Jr./Baltimore, MD) averages 12.9 points and Jalen Gaddy (Sr./Raleigh, NC) averages 11.9 points for the Falcons. For Shaw (5-19 overall, 2-12 CIAA), Greyson Kelly averages 20.2 points and Dhashon Dyson averages 12.5 points.
Both teams are coming off losses in their last games. The Falcons fell 70-51 to Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Bears lost 76-52 to Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Monday, Feb. 10.
