SAU Hosts Winston-Salem State In Men's And Women's Basketball Doubleheader On Senior Day Saturday (Feb. 8)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 7) – Saint Augustine's University concludes its home basketball schedule on Saturday, Feb. 8, with a men's and women's doubleheader against Winston-Salem State University at Emery Gymnasium on Senior Day. The women's contest starts at 2 p.m. followed by the men's matchup at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $13 for general admission and $8.50 for the following with valid ID: visiting students, SAU faculty, SAU staff, senior citizens, military personnel and youth ages 6 to 12. Admission is free for SAU students with valid ID and youth ages five and under per one paying adult.

Twelve seniors will be honored during a ceremony between the men's and women's games. The women's basketball seniors are Quiera Gilmore (Charlotte, NC), Kiana Clark (Queens, NY), Kamya Renwicks (Baltimore, MD), Nia Moore (Deltona, FL), Angela Caraballo (Charlotte, NC), Shankia Clark (Orlando, FL), Tanisha Wall (Franklinton, NC) and Kaaliya Williams (Richmond, VA.).


The men's basketball seniors are Jalen Gaddy (Raleigh, NC), Otis Hill, Jr. (Shallotte, NC) and Hirk Williams (Manassas, VA). Nyshanti Greene (Charlotte, NC) is a senior on the Blue Chips cheerleading squad.


The Lady Falcons (3-10 CIAA, 8-15 overall) are led in scoring by Williams, who needs eight points to reach the 1,000-point career mark. She averages 10.9 points per game and is second on the squad in rebounds per game (4.7). Renwicks averages 9.3 points and leads the Lady Falcons in assists per game (2.7).
She is the team's co-leader in steals per game (1.7) and the third-best rebounder (3.7) on the squad.


Gary Jefferson (Jr./Baltimore, MD) is the top scorer for the Falcons (3-10 CIAA, 8-15 overall) with a 13.6 average. Gaddy, one of the CIAA's best long-range shooters, average 12.3 points. Karaan Clemonts (Jr./Weldon, NC), who averages 8.5 points, leads the Falcons in assists (2.5) and steals (1.5) and is third in rebounding (4.0). He ranks among the CIAA leaders in assists and steals.


The tandem of Melody Prichard and Brandi Segars both average 11.1 points for the WSSU women (5-7 CIAA, 10-13 overall). Segars also averages six rebounds and Jahlia Williams leads the Rams in assists (3.3) and steals (1.5).


The WSSU men are the hottest team in the CIAA. Owners of a seven-game win streak, the Rams (10-2 CIAA, 13-8 overall) are atop the Southern Division. The Falcons, however, are 6-3 in their last nine games at home against the Rams.


Robert Colon paces the Rams with a 17-point average and Jaylen Alston averages 13 points. Mason Harrell leads the team in rebounds (6.7).
