SAU Alum Kindred Earn Top Individual Honors In Canadian Pro Basketball League

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 22) – Former Saint Augustine's University basketball standout Joel Kindred took home top individual honors in a Canadian pro league.

Kindred was named most valuable player and most improved player this past week in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC). He averaged 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season. Twice named NBLC Player of the Week, Kindred, who played for the KW Titans, scored over 20 points in 15 regular-season games, including a season-high 34 points. He was the league-leader in total points (536).

A Raleigh, N.C., native, Kindred was a 1,000-point scorer during his four-year collegiate career from 2011 to 2014, earning CIAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman. In May 2014, Kindred graduated from Saint Augustine's University with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management.
