RALEIGH, N.C. – Allison Sikes (Jr./Richmond, Va.) recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Saint Augustine's College to a 65-54 CIAA basketball win over Virginia Union University on Monday (Nov. 23) at Emery Gymnasium.
The conference win was the first for the Lady Falcons, who improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the CIAA. The Lady Panthers fell to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the CIAA.
LeKiesha White (Jr./Richmond, Va.) added 14 points and Scharlawn Hubbard (Fr./Akron, Ohio) collected 9 points off the bench for the Lady Falcons, who shot 47 percent compared to 32 percent for the Lady Panthers.
Tonaye Smith scored 17 points and Tiffany Clarke added 14 points for the Lady Panthers. Kara Scott chipped in 9 points.
The Lady Panthers scored 21 points off 28 Lady Falcon turnovers, but the Lady Falcons, led by Hubbard, outscored their opponents 24-14 in bench points. Reserves Jolisa Williams (So./Charles City, Va.) and Brittany Jenkins (Fr./West Hempstead, N.Y.) contributed eight and seven points, respectively.
The Lady Falcons venture out of the conference on Friday (Nov. 27) for a non-league game at Francis Marion. Game time is 2 p.m.
