Bryant Leads Lady Falcons Past Central State 69-57

RALEIGH, N.C. – Forward Keyona Bryant (So./Springdale, Md.) scored 21 points, yanked down nine rebounds and had three blocks to lead Saint Augustine's College to a 69-57 non-conference basketball win over Central State University on Friday (Dec. 18) at Emery Gymnasium.

 

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Lady Falcons, who evened their record to 4-4 overall. The Lady Marauders dropped to 5-6 overall.

 

Forward Scharlawn Hubbard (Fr./Akron, Ohio) and guard LeKiesha White (Jr./Richmond, Va.) both added 12 points for the Lady Falcons. Hubbard also tied Bryant for rebounding honors with nine.

 

Both White and Jolisa Williams added seven rebounds apiece for the Lady Falcons, who won the rebounding battle 52-31. The Lady Falcons also held the Lady Marauders to 29 percent shooting while the Lady Falcons shot 46 percent.

 

The Lady Falcons shot 53 percent in the second half to pull away from the Lady Marauders. The Lady Falcons, who trailed only 21 seconds in the game, built a double-digit lead in the game's final 10 minutes with the largest lead at 16 points.

 

Linda Ubadigbo led the Lady Marauders with 14 points.

 

The Lady Falcons are off until Dec. 29 when they visit Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, N.C. Game time is 2 p.m.
