Lady Falcons Survive Scare from Lady Lions

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Saint Augustine's College needed a career-high 23 points from LeKiesha White (Jr./Richmond, Va.) to fend off pesky Lincoln (Pa.) University 62-58 in a non-conference women's basketball game Monday (Jan. 25) at Rivero Hall.

White scored five points in the last 2:30 including two free throws with 14 seconds left for a 61-57 lead. After Brittney Waters of the Lady Lions made one of three free throws after she was fouled on a three-point attempt, White sealed the win with a free throw with five seconds left as the Lady Falcons (10-7 overall) averted an upset by the Lady Lions (2-15), who are expected to enter the CIAA next season.

White also added eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Allison Sikes (Jr./Richmond, Va.) added 17 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Lady Falcons, who recorded 14 steals. Keyona Bryant (So./Springdale, Md.) scored 12 points.

The Lady Lions was ahead 30-28 at halftime and led at times throughout a tight game, thanks to 20 points by Sharay Dubose and 16 points from Chanelle Harris. Danielle Smallwood added 13 points and Mfon Ekanem grabbed 12 rebounds for the Lady Lions.

The Lady Falcons return home on Thursday (Jan. 28) against Johnson C. Smith University at Emery Gymnasium. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
