Boxscore

RICHMOND, VA – Senior guard-forward Allison Sikes put on a show in her hometown Thursday.

Sikes, a Richmond, Va., native, posted LeBron James-like numbers – 24 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals – to spark Saint Augustine's College over Virginia Union 82-48 in a CIAA women's basketball contest.

Sikes propelled the Lady Falcons (9-4 overall, 3-0 CIAA) to their fourth straight win while keeping the Lady Panthers (0-10, 0-2 CIAA) winless. The Lady Falcons put the game away early behind Sikes, who had 19 points and eight steals by halftime.

With her family and friends among the spectators at VUU's Barco-Stevens Hall, Sikes spearheaded the Lady Falcons' pressure defense. She scored 13 points during a 27-10 run including a three-pointer for a 33-14 Lady Falcon lead with 5:30 left in the first half. Eleven of Sikes' points during the run came off five steals including two of her own. Sikes cooled off some in the second half but the damage had been done.

As a team, the Lady Falcons forced 47 turnovers which is the most by an opponent this season. The Lady Panthers turned the ball over 26 times in the first half.

The 34-point margin of victory was the second-largest this season for the Lady Falcons, who got 12 points from Brittany Torain (Jr./Warner Robins, Ga.) and 11 points, nine rebounds and 3 steals from guard-forward Le'Kiesha White, another Richmond, Va., senior who played well in her homecoming. The Lady Falcons finished with a season-high 26 steals including five from Jolisa Williams (Soph./Charles City, Va.).

Valentina Wheeler was the only double-figure scorer for the Lady Panthers with 16 points. Yuvonna Stevens pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Falcons stay on the road for the second consecutive game when they visit Bowie State in a matchup between CIAA contenders. Game time is 2 p.m.
