The Saint Augustine's College women's basketball team will spend Thanksgiving in Honolulu, Hawaii.
For the first time in school history, the unbeaten Lady Falcons (3-0 overall) will compete in the Oahu Classic. They meet Northwest Missouri State University Thursday (Nov. 24) at 2 p.m. eastern standard time, and clash against Chaminade University Friday (Nov. 25) at 8 p.m. eastern standard time. Both games will be played at McKinley High School.
“We are really eager to play in the Classic,” Lady Falcon Head Coach
Rachel Bullard said. “We are excited to play against tough competition and represent Saint Augustine's College.”
One of 10 teams in the event, the Lady Falcons are led by leading scorer
Keyona Bryant (Sr./Springdale, Md.) and rebounding leader
Umeka Benson (Soph./Charlotte, N.C.). Bryant averages 17.0 points and 7.7 rebounds while Benson averages 10.7 points and 9.0 rebounds.
Northwest Missouri State was one game away from the NCAA Division II championship game last season. The Lady Bearcats were ranked 15
th nationally in the preseason, but head into the Classic at 1-3 overall. Chaminade (0-0) has yet to play a regular-season contest.
