Keyona Bryant (Springdale, Md.) scored 19 points and Saint Augustine's College forced 24 Chaminade turnovers in a 66-58 victory Friday (Nov. 25) in the Oahu Classic.
Bryant made 9 of 14 shots and added seven rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who ran their record to 4-1 overall. She scored 16 points in the first half on 8 of 11 shooting to give her squad a 33-27 halftime lead. The Lady Falcons were ahead by 14 points at 64-50 with 3:25 left in the contest.
Senior guard Keianna Evans (Fayetteville, N.C.) scored 16 points and sophomore guard
Ebony Spencer (Chesapeake, Va.) finished with 10 points for the Lady Falcons, who led the entire game. Markeshia Manning and Dianna Zane led host Chaminade (0-2) with 13 points each.
The Lady Falcons scored 22 points off Chaminade turnovers and held the Lady Silverswords to 33 percent shooting to overcome 32 percent shooting of their own. Junior forward
Scharlawn Hubbard (Akron, Ohio) had a game-high three steals while Spencer, Evans and junior guard
Autumn Smith-Faulkner (Charlotte, NC) each collected two steals for the Lady Falcons, who totaled 11 steals overall.
The Lady Falcons play again next Thursday when they visit West Virginia Tech at 6 p.m.
