RALEIGH, N.C. - Saint Augustine's College saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Thursday.

Despite 22 points and 13 rebounds from senior center Keyona Bryant (Springdale, Md.), the Lady Falcons fell 63-58 to Elizabeth City State University in CIAA women's basketball action at Emery Gymnasium.

The loss was the first to a CIAA opponent this season for the Lady Falcons, who still enter Saturday's contest against defending league champion Shaw with a very respectable 10-6 mark including 5-1 in the conference. Game time for the crosstown matchup at Shaw's Spaulding Gymnasium is 2 p.m.

Junior guard Autumn Smith-Faulkner (Charlotte, N.C.) added 12 points for the Lady Falcons including two three-pointers. Jasmine Whitehurst scored 17 points to lead four ECSU double-figure scorers. Wykeemia Gray had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Stephanie Harper and DeAudra Brown both added 11 points for the Lady Vikings (9-7, 3-3 CIAA).

Bryant had 11 points and nine rebounds in the first half as the Lady Falcons spurted to a 22-9 lead. The Lady Vikings inched their way back in the game, however, chopping the Lady Falcons lead to 28-27 by halftime.

The Lady Falcons were ahead most of the second half, but the Lady Vikings took the lead for good 56-55 at the 2:10 mark. The margin stretched to eight points before sophomore guard Ebony Spencer (Chesapeake, Va.) of the Lady Falcons hit a three-pointer for the final score.

The Lady Falcons rank seventh in Division II in turnover margin, but this was one of the few times they were outscored (30-23) in turnover points. Both teams shot 40 percent from the floor, and the Lady Vikings held the rebounding edge 36-30.
