Bryant Sets Scoring Milestone In Comeback Win Over Livingstone

SALISBURY, N.C. - Senior center Keyona Bryant (Springdale, Md.) became the school's modern career scoring leader and junior guard Autumn Smith-Faulkner (Charlotte, N.C.) made a key steal and layup to cap a late rally for a 75-74 Saint Augustine's College victory over Livingstone Saturday (Feb. 18) at New Trent Gymnasium.
 
Smith-Faulkner's big play with 25 seconds left gave the Lady Falcons (13-11, 8-6 CIAA, 3-5 Southern Division) the lead since late in the first half. The Lady Falcons sneaked out with the win after triple teaming Montiya Harrison of Livingstone, who failed to get off a shot as the buzzer sounded. The Lady Falcons trailed 68-54 with five minutes left, but ended the game on a 20-7 run.
 
Bryant finished with 20 points and 19 rebounds for the Lady Falcons. She set the milestone after swishing a three-pointer at the 12:24 mark of the first half. Bryant now has 1,542 career points.
 
Smith-Faulkner added 15 points and sophomore forward Umeka Benson (Charlotte, N.C.) added 12 points and 11 rebounds. For Livingstone, four players were in double figures. Kelcyn Manurs scored 18 points and Stella Holloway added 14 points. Harrison and Rashida Elbourne both added 12 points for the Lady Blue Bears (7-19, 2-12 CIAA, 0-8 Southern Division).
 
Bryant and Manurs are the top scoring leaders in the CIAA.
