Game 1

Game 2

RALEIGH, N.C. –  Saint Augustine's College hit three home runs including two by Michelle Shackelford (Soph./Landover, Md.) to give the Lady Falcons a 6-5 victory over Peace College Tuesday (Feb. 21) at Knights of Columbus Field. The softball win was the first for the Lady Falcons this season under new Head Coach Nikki Bynum.

Peace won the second game 18-5 in a softball doubleheader between neighboring colleges in Southeast Raleigh.  The Lady Falcons are 1-8 overall and the Pacers are 4-4 overall.

Shackelford hit the game-winning homer in the seventh inning, a two-run shot deep to left field which ended the contest. The home run capped an outstanding day for Shackelford, who had five RBIs combined including four in the first game.

Taylor Walters (Fr./Douglasville, Ga.) also was solid at the plate. It was her single to centerfield in the seventh inning which set the stage for Shackelford's heroics.

Renitta White (Fr./Leland, N.C.) smacked the other home run for the Lady Falcons. Both White and Shackelford lead the Lady Falcons with two home runs apiece.

In the second game, Kathryn Tokarski (Sr./Saskatchewan, Canada.) drove in two of the Lady Falcons' five runs. Samantha Townsend led the Pacers with seven RBIs on 4-for-4 hitting. She also scored four runs.

For the day, Shackelford was 3-for-5 with two home runs and two runs scored. Walters was 3-for-6 with an RBI and three runs scored while White was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jennifer Plair (Soph./Hampton, Va.) pitched both games for the Lady Falcons. Aaryn Deal was the pitcher in the first game for the Pacers. Hannah McLeod was on the mound in the second game.

The Lady Falcons will play in the Peace College Tournament Friday (Feb. 24) and Saturday (Feb. 25). The game sites are Peace College and Meredith College.
