Lady Falcons Softball Splits Series with Livingstone to Earn First CIAA Win

SALISBURY, N.C. (April 15) – The SAU Lady Falcons Softball team (3-15, 1-9 CIAA) earned their first CIAA win of the season by splitting a two-game series with Livingstone College Saturday afternoon at Jaycee Optimist Sports Complex.

GAME ONE: 

The Lady Falcons got on the board first with two runs in the top of the first. The Blue Bears answered with five runs in the bottom of the first inning, 5-2. 

The Lady Falcons tied it up at five in the top of the second inning. The Blue Bears answered in the bottom of the third with four more runs, 9-5. 

Both teams were scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning.  

The Blue Bears added two more runs in the sixth inning. The Lady Falcons tried making a comeback in the top of the seventh, but the Blue Bears held them to two runs. The Blue Bears took game one, 11-7. 

GAME TWO:

The Lady Falcons were scoreless to start game two, then came out in the bottom of the first inning, scoring four runs. 

In the fourth inning, The Lady Falcons tied it up at four, adding two more runs to their score. The Blue Bears remained scoreless for the remainder of the game.

The Lady Falcons added five in the fifth inning and one in the sixth inning to close out the second game with a 10-4 victory. 

The Lady Falcons' game two victory snapped an 11-game skid, who return home on Friday, April 21, vs. Winston-Salem State at Oakwood Park in Raleigh, NC. The First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
