RALEIGH, N.C. – Saint Augustine's College pounded out 36 hits combined in a softball doubleheader sweep of Voorhees College Monday (March 5). The Lady Falcons won 13-0 in the first game and 22-1 in the second contest. Both games were played at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.
The Lady Falcons were led by several hitters. Renitta White (Leland, N.C.) drove in five runs on three hits including two home runs and a triple. A freshman catcher, White leads the Lady Falcons with five home runs.
Michelle Shackelford (Soph./Landover, Md.) tied White with five RBI on 6-for-7 hitting including a double. Kathryn Tokarski (Sr./Saskatchewan, Canada) added four RBI on 6-for-7 hitting including four doubles.
LaKeisha Ford (Soph./Madison Heights, Va.), Jennifer Plair (Soph./Hampton, Va.) and
Cierra Neal (Fr./New Hill, N.C.) each collected four RBI.
Plair was also superb on the mound. She held Voorhees to one run and seven hits in eight innings of pitching. The opening game shutout was the first of her career.
The Lady Falcons (4-11 overall) have reeled off three consecutive wins. They play again this weekend in the CIAA Round-Up at Walnut Creek Complex in Raleigh, N.C.
