RALEIGH, N.C. – Jolanda White (Fr./Leland, N.C.) of Saint Augustine's College hit her CIAA-leading 10
th home run of the season Tuesday, April 10, 2012, during a softball doubleheader against Peace University at Wachovia Field.
White drilled a shot over the left field fence in the second game of the doubleheader, which the Lady Falcons lost 15-7. The Lady Falcons also lost the first game 11-3 on the campus of Peace University.
White was 3-for-3 with three RBI, a home run, a triple and three runs scored in the second game.
Taylor Walters (Fr./Douglasville, Ga.) and
LaKeisha Ford (Soph./Madison Heights, Va.) each added an RBI.
Ramadana Simmons (Jr./Atlanta, Ga.) scored two runs while
Jennifer Plair (Soph./Hampton, Va.) and Walters each scored a run for the Lady Falcons, who fell to 12-19 overall.
The Lady Falcons led 7-5 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Peace (16-20) scored seven runs for a five-run lead. Peace added three runs in the sixth inning for the victory.
In the first game, White knocked in a run as well as
Kathryn Tokarski (Sr./Saskatchewan, Canada) and
Michelle Shackelford (Soph./Bowie, Md.). The trio of Simmons, White and Tokarski each scored a run for the Lady Falcons. Shackelford was 2-for-3 with a double and White was 1-for-3 with a double.
The Lady Falcons conclude the regular season Saturday in a doubleheader against defending CIAA champion Winston-Salem State at Buffaloe Road Park in Raleigh, N.C. The game times are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The doubleheader is designated as Senior Day.
