White, Simmons Earn CIAA Softball Weekly Honors

Centerfielder Daja White (Fr./Leland, N.C.) and second baseman Ramadana Simmons (Sr./Atlanta, GA) of Saint Augustine's University were honored by the CIAA on Monday, March 25, 2013, for their softball performances last week. They helped the Lady Falcons post a 5-2 record last week including a 5-0 CIAA mark.

White was named CIAA player of the week after batting .571 with six home runs, 22 RBIs and 12 runs scored in seven games last week. She slammed five home runs in her last three games at the CIAA Roundup on March 21 including two against Lincoln (Pa.) and two against Bowie State. The Lady Falcons were 3-0 in the Round-Up. White was 9-for-12 with 18 RBIs and 8 runs scored in her last three games. She also had 13 putouts mostly in centerfield with 3 assists.

White leads the CIAA in batting average (.538), RBIs (28) and home runs (8). She ranks second in Division II in runs per game (1.64).

Simmons was named CIAA defensive player of the week after recording 13 putouts and 11 assists at second base in seven games last week. She had seven putouts and five assists in a doubleheader against Belmont Abbey on March 17. The Lady Falcons host Livingstone in a CIAA doubleheader on Friday, March 29 starting at 1 p.m. The site is Buffaloe Road Park.
