White Selected to All-CIAA Softball Rookie Team

PETERSBURG, Va. - Center fielder Daja White (Fr./Leland, N.C.) of Saint Augustine's University was named to the All-CIAA softball rookie team at the Spring Sports Festival Awards Banquet on the campus of Virginia State University on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

White has been spectacular for the Lady Falcons in her first season. She is ranked among the top 10 in Division II in three categories including second in runs per game (1.58). White is sixth in the nation in stolen bases per game and seventh in runs batted in per game. She is 12th in Division II in batting average and 18th in slugging percentage.

White is tied for the most home runs (8) in the CIAA and ranks second in the conference in RBIs (36), runs (41) and slugging percentage (.875). She is third in batting average (.489) and stolen bases (24).
The first-year standout was first in CIAA regular-season games in home runs and RBIs. White was second in slugging percentage, third in on-base percentage and hits, and fourth in batting average, stolen bases and runs.

White played a key role in the Lady Falcons finishing as high as second in the division standings for the first time since 2007. They will post a winning record for the first time since 2003. Seeded second in the Southern Division, the Lady Falcons (15-10-1 overall) will take on Virginia Union University at noon in the first round of the CIAA Softball Tournament on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Petersburg Sports Complex. Game time is noon.
