RALEIGH, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University will host Barton College on Thursday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m. and the University of Mount Olive on Saturday, December 20 at 2 p.m. in women's basketball inside Emery Gymnasium before the Holiday break. Admission is free to both contests.
The Lady Falcons (4-3 overall) are looking to stretch their two-game win streak. They are coming off a 95-92 win over Paine College in Augusta, Ga., on Monday, December 15. Preseason All-CIAA Guard Regime McCombs (Jr./Greenville, SC) pumped in a career-high 36 points including 30 in the second half to lead a comeback from an 11-point halftime deficit.
McCombs leads the Lady Falcons and ranks fifth in the CIAA in points per game (15.9). She also is the conference leader in three-point field goal percentage (55.3) and free throw percentage (93.8). Guard Porscha Walton (Jr./Chesterfield, VA) averages 12.3 points, 4 rebounds and 1.6 steals, and forward Terri Jacobs (Jr./McDonough, GA) averages 9.7 points and 7.6 rebounds. Guard Jeanne-Marie Wilson (Jr./Temple Hills, MD) averages 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds.
Barton (2-7 overall) is led by the guard tandem of Kaila Lea and Tiffany Webster. Lea averages 11.7 points and Webster averages 10.4 points. Forward Alexis Johnson averages 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds. The Lady Bulldogs have lost their last three games including losses to CIAA opponents Winston-Salem State University (73-68) and Elizabeth City State University (64-62).
Mount Olive (3-6 overall) is paced by guard Ni'Ya Styles, center Arieal Johnson and forward Ty Wallace. Styles averages a team-high 12.1 points while Johnson and Wallace average 10.7 and 10.6 points, respectively. Wallace also pulls down 8.9 rebounds and Johnson snatches 8.4 rebounds. The Trojans last played on Tuesday, December 16 when they lost to Elizabeth City State 61-50.
