Wilson Scores 21 In Lady Falcons' Loss To Livingstone

Box Score SALISBURY, N.C. – Sophomore guard Jeanne-Marie Wilson (Temple Hills, MD) scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to lead a Saint Augustine's University rally in the second half, but the Lady Falcons fell 85-81 to Livingstone College in a CIAA women's basketball contest at New Trent Gymnasium on Monday, February 3, 2014.

Wilson scored 10 consecutive points at one point as the Lady Falcons rallied from a 20-point early second-half deficit. The Lady Falcons closed within 82-81 on a layup by sophomore forward Terry Jacobs (McDonough, GA) with under a minute left.

After a layup by the Lady Blue Bears, the Lady Falcons attempted a three to tie but it was partially blocked. The Lady Falcons were whistled for the foul battling for the rebound, and the Lady Blue Bears hit one of two free throws for the final score.

Wilson added three steals and four rebounds for the Lady Falcons. Sophomore guard Regime McCombs (Greenville, SC) added 18 points including four three-pointers and sophomore guard Porscha Walton (Chesterfield, VA) added 10 points and seven assists. Jacobs finished with 11 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who outscored the Lady Blue Bears 57-44 in the second half.

Cierra York scored 20 points and Tiffany Evans added 19 points for the Lady Blue Bears. Ashley Walker chipped in 14 points and Taylor Daniels had 12 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks.

The Lady Falcons outscored the Lady Blue Bears 31-14 in bench points and 34-32 in points in the paint. The difference was at the free-throw line where the Lady Blue Bears made 32-of-44 attempts compared to 23-of-32 attempts for the Lady Falcons.
In the first half, the Lady Falcons held an early two-point lead, but the Lady Blue Bears led 41-24 at halftime.

The Lady Blue Bears built their halftime lead by scoring 20 points off 19 Lady Falcons' turnovers. Many of the points were free throws as the Lady Blue Bears made 19-of-26 from the charity stripe.

McCombs scored eight first-half points including two three-pointers for the Lady Falcons. Senior forward Victoria Davis (San Diego, CA) added six points and three rebounds while Wilson had six points. Senior Ebony Spencer (Chesapeake, VA) led the Lady Falcons with five rebounds. Daniels was the leading first-half scorer for the Lady Blue Bears with 12 points.

The Lady Falcons are back home on Wednesday, February 5, when they host nationally-ranked Virginia State University. The contest will be held at Emery Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.
