Jo'Landa White (Leland, NC) led Saint Augustine's University with three hits including a home run and two RBIs in the WSSU Softball Tournament at Twin City Park on Thursday, March 20, 2014. The Lady Falcons lost 4-1 to Mansfield University and 6-4 to Bloomsburg University.
White ended the day 3-for-6 at the plate. Her sister
Daja White (Soph./Leland, NC) tallied two hits for the Lady Falcons.
White drove in the only run for the Lady Falcons against Mansfield. She doubled in the seventh inning to score freshman
Korey Hill (Virginia Beach, VA), who reached base on a single.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when Mansfield scored four runs. Senior Lakeisha Ford (Madison Heights, VA) ended the inning with a stellar catch. She chased down and caught a fly ball near the left field foul line. Her momentum carried her to the fence near the foul line where she burst through an unlocked gate entrance and fell down with the ball in her glove. Her spectacular play exemplified the Lady Falcons' defense for much of the game.

Jennifer Plair (Hampton, VA) added a hit along with
Jo'Landa White and Hill. Junior
Hannah Stutts (Statesville, NC) took the loss despite allowing two runs in five innings.
Jo'Landa White was 2-for-3 with an RBI against Bloomsburg.
Daja White was 2-for-4 while freshman
Meranda Zanni (Phoenix, OR) and sophomore
Ashia Nicholson (Asheboro, NC) each knocked in a run. Hill took the loss for the Lady Falcons.
Bloomsburg scored two runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning for a 3-0 lead. Ford scored on a steal after reaching base on a bunt single and Zanni doubled home
Daja White to pull the Lady Falcons within 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning.
Daja White reached base on a single. Bloomsburg answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-2 lead.
Jo'Landa White led off the sixth inning with a shot over the left field fence to make the score 6-3. Nicholson cut the deficit to two runs with an RBI single that scored junior
Taylor Walters (Douglasville, GA), who reached base on a double.
The Lady Falcons conclude play in the WSSU Tournament on Friday, March 21, when they face East Stroudsburg University at noon. The site is Twin City Park in Winston-Salem, N.C.
