Daja White Records Three RBIs As St. Aug Splits With JCSU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Daja White (Soph./Leland, NC) was 3-for-4 with three RBIs to pace Saint Augustine's University to a 7-1 CIAA softball win over Johnson C. Smith University in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 5, 2014. St. Aug lost the second game 6-1.

The Lady Falcons outhit the Golden Bulls 12-9 to win their Southern Division opener. Ashia Nicholson (Jr./) was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Cierra Neal (Jr./New Hill, NC) was 2-for-4. Meranda Zanni (Fr./Phoenix, OR) and Hannah Stutts (Jr./Statesville, NC) both doubled along with Daja White. Jo'Landa White (Jr./Leland, NC) hit a triple.

The Lady Falcons led 1-0 in the fourth inning when Daja White hit a double to score Zanni. They blew the game open with six runs in the fifth inning. Zanni hit a sacrifice fly to score Neal and Daja White hit a two-run single to score sister Jo'Landa White and Taylor Walters (Jr./Douglasville, GA).

Stutts added a double to score Daja White and Nicholson smacked a two-RBI home run to score herself and Stutts. The Golden Bulls scored their only run in the sixth inning.
Stutts was the winning pitcher after scattering nine hits in seven complete innings. She recorded six strikeouts and walked none.

In the second game, the Lady Falcons fell behind 3-0 before they scored their lone run in the third inning on a Zanni single which scored Walters. The Golden Bulls added three runs in the fifth inning for the victory.

The Lady Falcons are 1-1 in the CIAA Southern Division and 9-17 overall. The Golden Bulls are 3-1 and 10-16.

The Lady Falcons will travel to Salisbury, N.C., to visit Livingstone College Sunday, April 6. Game times are 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
