St. Aug Score 45 Runs In Softball Sweep of Livingstone

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SALISBURY, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University totaled 45 runs on 51 hits in a CIAA softball doubleheader sweep of Livingstone College on Sunday, April 6, 2014. The Lady Falcons won 17-5 in the first game and 28-3 in the second game. Both contests ended after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.

With the victories, the Lady Falcons moved to second place in the CIAA Southern Division at 3-1. Their overall record is 11-17. Livingstone is 0-10 in the Southern Division and 5-16 overall.

The 28 runs in the second game are the second-highest this season for the Lady Falcons, who beat Voorhees 31-3 in the first contest of a twinbill on Feb. 25. The Lady Falcons have scored 20 or more runs four times this season.

The 33 hits in the second game against Livingstone are also the second-most for the Lady Falcons this season. Their 35-hit output against Voorhees on Feb. 25 was higher. The Lady Falcons have accumulated 20 or more hits four times this season. The 26 RBIs in the second game is also the second-most for the Lady Falcons this season.

Several players paced the Lady Falcons on offense. Cierra Neal (Jr./New Hill, NC) went 8-for-11 with two doubles, seven RBIs and six runs scored in two games. Michelle Shackelford (Sr./Bowie, MD) went 5-for-9 with a home run, a double, seven RBIs and three runs scored. Meranda Zanni (Fr./Phoenix, OR) went 4-for-10 with a double, homer, seven RBIs and five runs scored.

Taylor Walters (Jr./Douglasville, GA) went 4-for-8 with a triple, home run, six RBIs and four runs scored. Ashia Nicholson (Soph./Asheboro, NC) went 7-for-8 with a double, triple, homer, five RBIs and six runs scored. Jo'Landa White (Jr./Leland, NC) went 7-for-10 with three doubles, three RBIs and five runs scored, and LaKeisha Ford (Sr./Madison Heights, VA) went 4-for-7 with a double and five runs scored. Korey Hill (Fr./Virginia Beach, VA) went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and two runs scored. Hannah Stutts (Jr./Statesville, NC) went 4-for-8 with an RBI and four runs scored.
