St. Aug Hosts WSSU Wednesday, FSU Thursday In Key Softball Doubleheaders

RALEIGH, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University hosts two key back-to-back CIAA softball doubleheaders at Buffaloe Road Park this week.

The Lady Falcons face Winston-Salem State University on Wednesday, April 9 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. They play again the following day against Fayetteville State University on Thursday, April 10 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is free to both doubleheaders.

The Lady Falcons are currently in second place behind Southern Division leader Winston-Salem State at 3-1. Winston-Salem State is unbeaten in the division at 6-0 and Fayetteville State is tied with Johnson C. Smith for third place at 4-2.

The Lady Falcons are led by the sister duo of Jo'Landa White (Jr./Leland, NC) and Daja White (Soph./Leland, NC) in addition to Cierra Neal (Jr./New Hill, NC). The trio is among the top five CIAA batting leaders.

Neal is second in the conference in batting average (.471) while Daja White is third (.458) and Jo'Landa White is tied for fourth (.453). Jo'Landa White also is the CIAA leader in RBIs (38) and ranks second in the league in home runs (7). Daja White is third in stolen bases (20). Meranda Zanni (Fr./Phoenix, OR) ranks fifth in RBIs (28) and Korey Hill (Fr./Virginia Beach, VA) ranks third in the CIAA in strikeouts (70).

The Lady Falcons are ranked nationally in Division II in five team categories. They are second in batting average (.384), fourth in scoring (8.18), fifth in stolen bases per game (2.75) and doubles per game (2.32) and eighth in slugging percentage (.561).

Jo'Landa White ranks seventh in Division II in RBIs per game (1.41). Taylor Walters (Jr./Douglasville, GA) is sixth in triples (5) and ninth in triples per game (0.18).
