Parker, Noland Spark Lady Falcons Past Barton 5-2 At Shaw Softball Challenge

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Marley Parker (Fr./Langley, British Columbia) and Danyelle Noland (Fr./Nashville, NC) each knocked in two runs to lead Saint Augustine's University to a 5-2 non-conference victory over Barton College on the final day of the Shaw Softball Challenge at Olsen Park on Monday, March 9, 2015.

The Lady Falcons (2-4 overall) built a 5-0 lead through the first four innings and held off Barton (3-8 overall) for the win. They scored three runs in the third inning when Korey Hill (So./Virginia Beach, VA) scored Parker on a single and Noland scored Jo'Landa White (Sr./Leland, NC) and Hill on a two-run single.

The Lady Falcons scored two runs in fourth inning for the five-run lead. Parker scored Akera McPhaul (Fr./Greensboro, NC) and Taylor Walters (Sr./Douglasville, GA) on a two-run single. Barton scored two runs in the sixth inning for the final score.

Hannah Stutts (Sr./Statesville, NC) tossed a four-hitter and recorded five strikeouts in seven innings for the pitching win. The Lady Falcons collected seven hits.

Earlier in the day, the Lady Falcons lost 13-1 to Mansfield University. Tyanna Peterson (So./Brooklyn Park, NY) scored the Lady Falcons' only run on a wild pitch in the third inning. She was 2-for-2 at the plate and Meranda Zanni (So./Phoenix, OR) was 2-for-3 for the Lady Falcons, who had seven hits. Mansfield (4-1) finished with nine hits.

The Lady Falcons posted a 2-2 record at the two-day Shaw Softball Challenge.
