Box Score BROWNSVILLE, Pa. – CIAA champion Saint Augustine's University lost to PSAC Champion California (Pa.) University 11-0 in an NCAA Division II Atlantic 1 Regional softball first-round game at Lilley Field on Friday, May 8, 2015. This was the first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance for the Lady Falcons.
The eighth-seed Lady Falcons, who are 22-14 overall, will face No. 5 seed Gannon University in an elimination bracket game on Saturday, May 9, at 1 p.m. Top seed California (Pa.), which improved to 36-10 overall, advanced to the winner's bracket.
The Lady Falcons generated three hits while California (Pa.) totaled 12 hits in the five-inning contest. The trio of Meranda Zanni (So./Phoenix, OR), Marley Parker (Fr./Langley, British Columbia) and Hannah Stutts (Sr./Statesville, NC) each collected a hit for the Lady Falcons, who fell behind 5-0 in the first inning. Jacquelyn Fowler led California (Pa.) offensively on 2-for-3 hitting with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Korey Hill (So./Virginia Beach, VA) took the loss for the Lady Falcons. Alex Sagl of California (Pa.) fired a two-hitter and struck out eight batters in four innings to gain the win.
