Lady Falcons Battle Hard In Women's Basketball Loss To Johnson C. Smith

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Guard Shanika Harris (Jr./Richmond, VA) scored 16 points as Saint Augustine's University stayed close with Johnson C. Smith University before falling 64-48 in a CIAA women's basketball contest at Brayboy Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016.

The Lady Falcons opened a seven-point lead in the first quarter, and kept pace with Johnson C. Smith until the fourth quarter when the Golden Bulls pulled away. Despite the loss, the Lady Falcons played one of their best games of the season considering leading scorer Sycoya Dorsey (Jr./Richmond, VA) was out due to illness.

The Lady Falcons were in striking distance entering the fourth quarter. They trailed 40-35 but were outscored 24-13 in the final stanza. A full-court press by the Golden Bulls contributed to the final outcome.
