Lady Falcons Fall To Fayetteville State In Women's Basketball

RALEIGH, N.C. – Guard Sycoya Dorsey (Jr./Richmond, VA) scored 19 points and guard Ke-Ashe Lee (Soph./Roanoke, VA) added 14 points for Saint Augustine's University in an 85-52 CIAA women's basketball loss to Fayetteville State University at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016.

Dorsey and Lee combined to score over half of the Lady Falcons' points. Lee scored all 14 points in the first half and Dorsey scored 17 points in the second half.

he Lady Falcons played their best basketball in the first and fourth quarters. Lee scored seven consecutive points in the first quarter to pull the Lady Falcons within 15-12. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Falcons outscored the Lady Broncos 16-15 behind 10 points from Dorsey.

The Lady Falcons led twice on back-to-back three-pointers by guard Shanika Harris (Sr./Richmond, VA) and guard Shakeisha Washington (Jr./Atlanta, GA), but the Lady Broncos scored the last 17 points in the final five minutes of the second quarter to lead 43-29 at halftime. The Lady Broncos outscored the Lady Falcons 27-7 in the third quarter.

Sycoya Dorsey: The junior guard continued to play with intensity even though the Lady Falcons were well behind. She added six rebounds and four steals in addition to her team-high 19 points on 7-for-14 shooting.


Ke-Ashe Lee: The sophomore guard has hustled the entire season. She scored double figures in her sixth game this season.

Shanika Harris: The senior guard finished with eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Shakeisha Washington: The junior center chipped in seven points and five rebounds.

Ashanti Reid (Jr./Statesville, NC): The junior forward tallied four points, six rebounds and two assists.
