SAU Women's Basketball Visits Elizabeth City State In CIAA Opener Thursday (Dec. 15)

Both Teams Meet For The Second Time This Season

RALEIGH, NC (Dec 14) – On Thursday, Dec. 15, Saint Augustine's University will be looking to win its CIAA women's basketball opener and gain revenge at the same time against Elizabeth City State University at the Vaughan Center in Elizabeth City, N.C. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

Both teams met in the ECSU Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 25 with the Lady Vikings winning 40-31. The game was a non-conference matchup but Thursday's meeting will count in the conference standings.

The contest is the second of four away games in six days for the Lady Falcons (3-8 overall), who will make their home debut against Barton College in Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. After playing Elizabeth City State, the Lady Falcons will visit Chowan University on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. and Virginia State University on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2:30 p.m. in back-to-back games.

Leading the way for the Lady Falcons is the freshmen tandem of guard-forward Kaaliya Williams (Richmond, VA) and guard Kiana Clark (Queens, NY). Williams leads the team in points per game (11.2) and rebounds per game (4.5) and Clark is second in both categories (10.3 points and 4.2 rebounds) in addition to leading the Lady Falcons in assists. Guard Kamya Renwicks (Fr./Baltimore, MD) is the team leader in steals per game (2.1) and forward Paulette Addison (Jr./Wilmington, NC) has the most blocks on the squad (10).

For the Lady Vikings (1-0 CIAA, 3-5 overall), guard Jalyn Brown is the top scorer with a 10.3 average and forwards D'Asya Wilson and Jazmine Nixon each average 7.4 rebounds per game. Wilson averages 1.6 steals per game and Nixon has eight blocks this season for the Lady Vikings.
