Lady Falcons Shoot Over 50 Percent In The Second Half

RALEIGH, NC (Dec 31) - On Saturday, Kaaliya Williams (Fr./Richmond, VA) scored 16 points and Kamya Renwicks (Fr./Baltimore, MD) added nine points for Saint Augustine's University in a 76-52 women's basketball loss to Barton College in its home opener at Emery Gymnasium.

Williams scored nine points and Kelsee Arnold (So./Fayetteville, GA) had eight points in the second half when the Lady Falcons shot 50 percent. Unfortunately, the team's hot shooting couldn't overcome a 22-9 first-quarter deficit.

The Lady Falcons held Barton's leading scorer and rebounder Kianna Wynn to nine points and seven rebounds but Karimah Dean picked up the slack, totaling 20 points, 17 rebounds and four steals. Led by Dean, the Lady Bulldogs (5-5 overall) scored 25 points off 12 steals and 22 Lady Falcon turnovers. The Lady Falcons scored six points off 11 steals and 21 Lady Bulldog turnovers.

Renwicks led the Lady Falcons (3-12 overall) with three steals. She also pulled down a team-high five rebounds.

The contest concluded the non-conference schedule for the Lady Falcons. Conference play resumes Thursday, Jan. 5 against CIAA opponent Bowie State University at Emery Gymnasium starting at 5:30 p.m. This will be the second of six straight home contests for the Lady Falcons, who opened the season with 14 consecutive road games.
