Dorsey Scores 18 For Lady Falcons In Women's Basketball Loss To Johnson C. Smith

RALEIGH, N.C. – Guard Sycoya Dorsey (Jr./Richmond, VA) scored 18 points and center Shakeisha Washington (Jr./Atlanta, GA) added 14 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 76-62 CIAA women's basketball loss to Johnson C. Smith University at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016.

Shanika Harris (Sr./Richmond, VA) added eight points for the Lady Falcons, who shot a season-high 48.9 percent from the floor. The Lady Falcons shot 57.7 percent in the second half to slice a 19-point deficit to nine at 55-46 on a three-point play by Dorsey late in the third quarter.

The Golden Bulls (14-10 overall, 3-4 CIAA Southern Division) built their lead back to double digits by the end of the third quarter. They led by more than 10 points the entire fourth quarter.

Washington was 4-for-6 behind the three-point arc for the Lady Falcons, who made six three-pointers to two for the Golden Bulls. But the Lady Falcons were outscored 22-10 at the free throw line and committed 30 turnovers which the Golden Bulls converted into 27 points.

Ashley Porter led the Golden Bulls with 15 points and 10 rebounds. A'Diyah Ussery added 14 points for the visitors.

The Lady Falcons (3-20 overall, 0-7 CIAA Southern Division) are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 13, in a rematch against crosstown rival Shaw University. The contest begins at 2 p.m. inside Spaulding Gymnasium.
