FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Saint Augustine's University women will close out the regular season against Fayetteville State University in a CIAA basketball matchup at Capel Arena on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016. The contest starts at 2 p.m. followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.
Tickets for the doubleheader are $12 for general admission and $10 for senior citizens and military personnel with identification. The cost is $6 for visiting students and children. The Lady Falcons are keyed by Sycoya Dorsey (Jr./Richmond, VA), who leads the team in points per game (15.8), rebounds per game (7.1), assists per game (1.8) and steals per game (1.9). The sensational guard ranks second nationally in Division II in free throw attempts (219).
Backcourt mate Shanika Harris (Sr./Richmond, VA) is the Lady Falcons' second-leader scorer with a 10.6 average. She ranks among the top 10 three-point scorers in the CIAA along with center Shakeisha Washington (Jr./Atlanta, GA). Harris has made 31 three-pointers and Washington has knocked down 38 treys for the Lady Falcons (0-9 CIAA, 3-22 overall). The Lady Broncos (5-4 CIAA, 14-12 overall) are paced by forward Vanessa Hinnant, who leads the squad with a 12.9 scoring average.
Both teams will prepare for the CIAA Tournament after Saturday's game. The CIAA Tournament will be held Tuesday, Feb. 23, through Saturday, Feb. 27, at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.
