The Saint Augustine's University women will face Lincoln (Pa.) University on Tuesday, Feb. 23, and the Saint Augustine's University men will take on Bowie State University on Thursday, Feb. 25, in the CIAA Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C. The CIAA Tournament begins Tuesday, Feb. 23, and will conclude with the men's and women's championship games on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The CIAA released the men's and women's pairings early Sunday morning, Feb. 21. The regular season concluded for the conference teams, including the Falcons and Lady Falcons, on Saturday, Feb. 20.
The Lady Falcons, seeded No. 6 in the Southern Division, will square off against Lincoln (Pa.), the No. 3 seed in the Northern Division, in a women's first-round contest at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner will meet Livingstone College, the Southern Division No. 2 seed, in the second round on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
The Lady Falcons are 3-23 overall and Lincoln (Pa.) is 13-11 overall. In their only regular-season meeting, the Lady Falcons lost 72-46 in Lincoln University, Pa., on Jan. 9, but they enter the tournament as healthy as they have been all season.
The Falcons, seeded No. 2 in the Southern Division, received a two-day bye and will face Bowie State, the No. 3 seed in the Northern Division, in a men's quarterfinal game at 1 p.m. on Thursday. The winner will play the winner between Virginia State University and an opponent yet to be determined in Friday's semifinals. Virginia State is the No. 1 seed in the Northern Division.
The Falcons (11-15 overall) fell to Bowie State (16-12 overall) earlier in the season by a 78-62 score in Bowie, Md., on Jan. 7. The Falcons are much improved since that matchup, having won six of their last eight games to earn the No. 2 division seed. They were picked to finish fourth in the division in the preseason.
