After a 19-day break, the Saint Augustine's University softball team begins play in the CIAA Southern Division this weekend.
The Lady Falcons visit Johnson C. Smith University in a doubleheader at Biddleville Park in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday, April 9. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The following day on Sunday, April 10, the Lady Falcons head to Salisbury, N.C., to face Livingstone College in a doubleheader at Jaycee Optimist Park. The starting times are 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The Lady Falcons (3-17 overall) are sparked on offense by Marley Parker (So./Langley, British Columbia). She ranks second in the CIAA in batting average (.460). Haili Pettifer (So./Langley, British Columbia) and Akera McPhaul (So./Greensboro, NC) are second and third on the team, respectively, in batting average. Pettifer bats .373 and McPhaul bats .372.
Monique Jefferson leads the Golden Bulls (2-0 Southern Division, 6-10 overall) with a .415 batting average. Melissa Vierra bats .410 and Jocelyn Hernandez bats .404. Britt Taylor leads Livingstone (0-4 Southern Division, 5-14 overall) with a .500 batting average.
