Box Score Kaaliya Williams Scores 19 Points For Lady Falcons
RALEIGH, NC (Jan 19) – On Wednesday, Kaaliya Williams (Fr./Richmond, VA) scored 19 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 67-44 CIAA women's basketball loss to Johnson C. Smith University at Emery Gymnasium.
Paulette Addison (Jr./Wilmington, NC) added nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks for the Lady Falcons, who shot 40 percent or better for the second consecutive game. The Lady Falcons made 40.5 percent of their shots including 41.7 percent behind the three-point arc. They also canned 83.3 percent of their free throw attempts.
Williams scored all nine of her first-half points in the second quarter as the Lady Falcons outscored the Golden Bulls 15-13 in the second period. The Lady Falcons trimmed the Golden Bulls lead to 28-21 at halftime after the Golden Bulls scored the game's first 13 points.
The Golden Bulls (2-0 Southern Division, 5-1 CIAA, 12-4 overall), ranked ninth this week in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll, broke the game open in the second half. Their lead expanded to 51-31 at the end of the third period.
Quiera Gilmore (R-Fr./Charlotte, NC) and Ke-Ashe Lee (Jr./Roanoke, VA) each contributed six points for the Lady Falcons. Malia Rivers finished with 13 points and Asha Jordan added 12 points for the Golden Bulls, who scored 38 points off turnovers.
After six consecutive home games, the Lady Falcons (0-2 Southern Division, 0-8 CIAA, 3-17 overall) head a short distance to meet crosstown rival Shaw University at Spaulding Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 21. Game time is 2 p.m.
