The CIAA Southern Division Contest Begins at 5:30 p.m. at Emery Gymnasium
RALEIGH, NC (Jan 24) – On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Saint Augustine's University will host Livingstone College in a CIAA women's basketball contest at Emery Gymnasium. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's game between both teams at 7:30 p.m.
Ticket prices are $13 for adults and $8.50 for children ages 6-12, visiting college students, faculty, staff, senior citizens and military personnel with valid ID. The doubleheader is free for SAU students and children ages five and under (one per paying adult). The Lady Falcons (0-3 Southern Division, 3-18 overall) have played their best basketball over the last two weeks. They have led at halftime and shot better than 40 percent from the floor in two of their last three games. In Saturday's loss to Shaw University, the Lady Falcons shot exactly 40 percent in the first half against the Lady Bears before cooling off in the second half.
CIAA Rookie of the Week Kaaliya Williams (Fr./Richmond, VA) is the catalyst for the Lady Falcons. She leads the team in points per game (12.1) and ranks 10th in the CIAA in that category. The first-year forward is also the top rebounder for the Lady Falcons, who lead the CIAA in free throw percentage (70.4).
Guard Zena Lovette is the top scorer and rebounder for the Blue Bears (2-1 Southern Division, 9-9 overall). She ranks second in the CIAA in points per game (16.7) and fourth in rebounds per game (9.3). Lovette also ranks third in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (37.3) for the Blue Bears, who lead the CIAA in three-point attempts per game (23.8) and three-point field goals per game (7.5).
