Kaaliya Williams (Fr./Richmond, VA) scored 10 points for the Lady Falcons including five in the first quarter when the Lady Falcons only trailed 16-12 against the Bulldogs, ranked 10th in the D2SIDA Atlantic Rankings this week.
The Lady Falcons (0-4 CIAA, 3-13 overall) hit a cold spell after the first quarter as they scored a combined eight points in the second and third quarters. The Bulldogs – led by six points each from Pere Alexander and Denver Clyde – opened a 41-20 lead at the end of the third period.
The Lady Falcons caught fire in the fourth period as they shot 60 percent but the deficit was too much to overcome. The Bulldogs (4-0 CIAA, 12-2 overall) shot 47.8 percent in the final period to maintain their lead.
Kelsee Arnold (So./Fayetteville, GA) added six points and Ke-Ashe Lee (Jr./Roanoke, VA) chipped in five points for the Lady Falcons. Kyaja Williams finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Bulldogs, who also got eight points each from Kiara Colston and Kyah Proctor.
The Lady Falcons played solid defense against the Bulldogs, holding them to 33.8 percent shooting. But the Bulldogs outrebounded the Lady Falcons 42-31 for a 19-3 advantage in second chance points. The Bulldogs also scored 26 points off 24 Lady Falcon turnovers.
The Lady Falcons will play their third consecutive home game on Saturday, Jan. 7 against Lincoln (Pa.) University at Emery Gymnasium. Game time is 2 p.m.
