SAU Women's Basketball Falls To Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (Nov. 15) – Kaaliya Williams (So./Richmond, VA) scored 13 points and Kelsee Arnold (Jr./Fayetteville, GA) added 12 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 99-64 road loss to the University of Mount Olive in a non-conference women's basketball game at Kornegay Arena on Wednesday.

Quiera Gilmore (So./Charlotte, NC) scored nine points and Angela Caraballo (So./Richmond, VA) chipped in seven points and four steals for the Lady Falcons, who dropped to 1-1 overall. Tomisha Davis (Sr./New Bern, NC) contributed six points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Ni'Ya Styles scored 22 points for the Trojans, who improved to 1-2 overall. Hope Toliver added 17 points as five players scored in double figures for the Trojans, who shot 50 percent compared to 34.3 percent for the Lady Falcons, who never led after falling behind 8-0. The Lady Falcons forced 25 turnovers and outscored Mount Olive 16-14 in second chance points, but the Trojans held a 58-34 scoring advantage in the paint.

The Lady Falcons are back in action this weekend in the Red & White Classic hosted by Winston-Salem State University. They face Benedict College on Saturday, Nov. 18, and Central State University on Sunday, Nov. 19, in Winston-Salem, N.C., with both games starting at 2 p.m.
