Williams Scores 21 In SAU Women's Basketball Loss To Clark Atlanta

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 21) – Kaaliya Williams (So./Richmond, VA) scored a game-high 21 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 75-61 women's basketball loss to Clark Atlanta University at Epps Gymnasium in Atlanta, Ga., on Tuesday.
 
Williams shot 8 of 17 from the floor including 2 of 4 behind the three-point line in addition to making 3 of 3 free throw attempts. The Lady Falcons' standout has swished 25 straight free throws dating back to last season including 17 in the first five games this season. She is tied for first in the NCAA Division II national rankings in free throw percentage (100 percent).

Angela Caraballo (So./Richmond, VA) added 13 points for the Lady Falcons, who were playing their fourth road game in seven days. Kelsee Arnold (Jr./Fayetteville, GA) registered nine points, six steals and five rebounds, and Bianca Igwe (Jr./Tampa, FL) corralled eight rebounds. Kamya Renwicks (So./Baltimore, MD) chipped in five points, four assists, four rebounds and three steals.

The Lady Falcons (2-3 overall) faced Clark Atlanta two days after playing in the WSSU Red & White Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C. They got off to a sluggish start against the Lady Panthers, who led 22-5 after the first period. The Lady Falcons outscored the Lady Panthers 17-11 in the second period and 21-18 in the fourth period, but the first-period deficit was too much to overcome.

Lauren Turner paced Clark Atlanta (2-2 overall) with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Marissa Mandlelove added 16 points and Naomi Holloway scored 11 points.

The Lady Falcons return to action this weekend in the FSU Thanksgiving Classic in Fayetteville, N.C. They play Chowan University on Friday, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m. and Elizabeth City State University on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m. Both contests are non-conference matchups between CIAA schools.
