SAU Women's Basketball To Compete In FSU Thanksgiving Classic Starting Friday, Nov. 24

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 23) – The Saint Augustine's University women's basketball team hits the road again when the Lady Falcons travel to Fayetteville, N.C., for the FSU Thanksgiving Classic at Capel Arena this weekend.

The Lady Falcons play two non-conference games against CIAA opponents in the Classic, hosted by Fayetteville State University. They face Chowan University on Friday, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m. and Elizabeth City State University on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m.

This will be the fifth and sixth consecutive away games for the Lady Falcons, who are 2-3 overall. They have shown significant improvement from last season when they won three games overall.

Preseason All-CIAA pick Kaaliya Williams (So./Richmond, VA) leads the team in scoring with a 15.0 average. Angela Caraballo (So./Richmond, VA) averages 11.6 points and Kelsee Arnold (Jr./Fayetteville, GA) averages 10.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals. Quiera Gilmore (So./Charlotte, NC) averages 8.6 points and Kamya Renwicks (So./Baltimore, MD) averages 8.2 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals.

The contest against Chowan features the top two CIAA teams in steals with both squads averaging 15 steals per game. The Lady Falcons rank second (26.2) and the Hawks are third (25.0) in the CIAA in forced turnovers.

The Hawks (4-1 overall) are led by Dhyamond Crenshaw, who averages 17.2 points. Chantel Roberts averages 16.2 points and 7.2 rebounds. Elizabeth City State (2-2 overall) is sparked by Jayln Brown with a 16.8 scoring average.
