SAU Women's Basketball Falls To Winston-Salem State In CIAA Southern Division Opener

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Jan. 13) – Saint Augustine's University fell to Winston-Salem State University 100-59 in its CIAA Southern Division women's basketball opener at the Gaines Center on Saturday.

Quiera Gilmore (R-So./Charlotte, NC) scored 11 points while Ke-Ashe Lee (Sr./Roanoke, VA) and Kaaliya Williams (So./Richmond, VA) added nine points each for the Lady Falcons. Paulette Addison (Sr./Wilmington, NC) and Angela Caraballo (So./Richmond, VA) each scored seven points and Kelsee Arnold (So./Fayetteville, GA) chipped in six points and eight rebounds. Tomisha Davis (Sr./New Bern, NC) contributed six points, six rebounds and two blocks.

The Lady Falcons quickly fell behind and never recovered in the contest. The Rams led 28-14 after the first period and the margin grew to 54-27 at halftime.

Brionna Pate finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Rams (1-0 Southern Division, 7-9 overall). Teara Johnson tallied 19 points and Briana Arnold scored 14 points while Tiana Edwards added 10 points.

The Lady Falcons (0-1 Southern Division, 4-12 overall) will return to the court Saturday, Jan. 20, against Johnson C. Smith University at Brayboy Gymnasium in Charlotte, N.C. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
