Box Score
RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 4) – NCAA Division II free throw leader Kaaliya Williams (So./Richmond, VA) of Saint Augustine's University relied on the charity stripe to score a season-high 26 points in an 80-62 CIAA women's basketball loss to Bowie State University at A.C. Jordan Arena in Bowie, Md., on Thursday.

Williams continued her sharp shooting at the free throw line, making 13 of 14 free throws. She added seven rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who made 21 of 22 free throw attempts for 95.5 percent including a perfect 14 of 14 in the second half. The sophomore forward has knocked down 48 of 50 free throw attempts this season for 96 percent.

Her success at the free throw line resulted in one of Williams' best offensive outputs in a Lady Falcons' uniform. Williams nearly reached her career high of 34 points which she set against The Apprentice School in 2016.

Williams kept the Lady Falcons in Thursday's contest, but they couldn't keep pace with the Bulldogs in the second half. She scored seven straight points which cut an 11-point deficit to four with 1:55 left in the third period, but the Bulldogs responded with 11 consecutive points between the third and fourth periods to open a 56-41 lead. From that point, the deficit never dropped under double figures.

Kelsee Arnold (Jr./Fayetteville, NC) added eight points while Kamya Renwicks (So./Baltimore, MD) and Angela Caraballo (So./Richmond, VA) scored seven points apiece. Kiana Clark (So./Queens, NY) chipped in six points for the Lady Falcons (1-3 CIAA, 4-9 overall).

Kiara Colson scored 19 points and Kyah Procter added 18 points for the Bulldogs (2-1 CIAA, 9-3 overall), ranked eighth in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region poll. Kyaja Williams pulled down 13 rebounds as the Bulldogs held a 49-36 advantage on the boards and shot 44.6 percent.

Williams scored 13 points in the first half as the Lady Falcons rallied late in the second period. Trailing 27-14 with 4:48 left, the Lady Falcons ended the period on a 10-2 run, including four points by Williams, to close within 29-24 at halftime. The Lady Falcons stayed within single digits until the Bulldogs stretched their lead late in the third period.

The Lady Falcons are back in action Saturday, Jan. 6, against Lincoln University in Lincoln University, Pa. Game time is 2 p.m. at Rivero Hall.
